Trailer for Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell

Published by Jeff Leins on: March 11th, 2009

A trailer has made its way online for Sam Raimi’s anticipated return to the horror genre, Drag Me to Hell.  Before he directed Spider-Man and its two sequels (and signed for another), Raimi filmed the cult favorite Evil Dead series.  This smaller, scarier film brings him back to the style that made his name.

Alison Lohman stars (after Ellen Page bailed) along with Justin Long in a story about a loan officer who denies an extension that means eviction for a creepy old lady.  One-eyed crazy woman apparently hasn’t read a newspaper in months, so she blames Christine (Lohman) for her money problems and hexes her with a supernatural curse.  Now Christine has to find a way to stop the curse from dragging her into the fiery depths of hell, which I imagine is a lot like being a loan officer… forever.

Raimi will be showing a “work in progress” version of the film at the South by Southwest Film Festival this weekend.  I have it on my schedule of things to do while there, but I have a feeling there’s going to be an insane amount of people trying to get in.  If all goes well, I’ll have my thoughts here early Monday morning.

Until then, here’s the official trailer:

Drag Me to Hell is out in theaters May 29, 2009.
