Megatron will return for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen according to Hugo Weaving, the movie’s producer, and now director Michael Bay.
For months, images and toy packaging have revealed more and more about what Megatron will look like in the Transformers sequel. Bay, in his terrible campaign of “misinformation” has continued to say it’s just a new toy. Pictured here is the alternate “tank” vehicle Megatron may assume in the movie.
Hugo Weaving, the actor who voiced Megatron in the original and apparently the sequel, told Australian website AdelaideNow this today:
“I’ve already done it,’’ Weaving says, adding Bay had told him to keep the news hush-hush. “He’s over in LA and we were working on the video split sort of thing and I had this strange conversation where he seemed to imply it was all a big secret. So there you go.”
This is on top of a recent web posting where writer Robert Orci exclaimed, “Megatron is back!” This is contradictory to what Bay told Empire Magazine. He flatly denied Megatron returning by saying, “[He] is not in this movie. That’s not misinformation.” I suppose the only things we know to be true at this point is that Michael Bay lies and he’s a mediocre director.
After the actor and the producer both said it, Bay couldn’t deny it any more. Here’s what he wrote on his website, “Okay cat is out of the bag. Megatron is back —- but you will only get to see him from the long lost past. We go way back in time as this movie explains the mythology of the Primes. He is not a tank like everyone suggests, but an alien vehicle. But sadly he does not has much screen time. Michael”
I’ve also read rumors where Megatron is resurrected at some point and not just featured in a flashback, so who knows.
