First Look: Angelina Jolie in ‘Salt’

USA Today has the first two pictures from Salt, the spy thriller from director Phillip Noyce (The Bone Collector and a few Jack Ryan adventures) and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra).

The images show star actress Angelina Jolie standing around in the first days of principal photography, wearing two different “disguises.”  The one on the right is definitely Jolie, but I never would have guessed the first picture was her.  She’s not really a blond!  Truly movie magic.

Jolie plays a CIA agent who goes rogue when accused of being a Russian spy.  Her Evelyn Salt character was originally Edwin A. Salt and was to be played by Tom Cruise.  When Cruise dropped out, the team re-wrote the script for Jolie.  Di Bonaventura said, “People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she’s in a disguise also may or may not.”

My guess is the second picture is really Liev Schreiber, who is also in this movie playing Jolie’s CIA boss.  Or maybe Chiwetel Ejiofor, a rival spy named Peabody.

Salt is expected sometime in 2010.
