Tron Sequel Story Details

Published by Jeff Leins on March 3, 2009

AICN has insider information, plot details, and spoilers on Disney’s 3-D Tron sequel.

First and foremost, the much talked about title TR2N or Tron 2.0 will likely be instead “Tron:” followed by a catchy subtitle.  This is good news for the geeks who haven’t stopped complaining since Comic-Con about the working title.

The “reliable tipster” also told the website the story will take place 25 years after the original, which sounds just about right considering the first film was released in 1982 and the sequel is scheduled for sometime in 2011.

Here are some plot details, which may contain spoilers:
Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) has created a video game company (ENCOM) based on the grid challenges he faced in his digital adventure.  He also has a son named Sean (Garrett Hedlund) before disappearing.  Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) takes over the company before telling Sean he may find his dad in an old arcade.

Into the computer game Sean goes where he discovers a program called CLU (young Bridges) has taken over and is eradicating the ISOs.  They believe Sean is the one who can save them from CLU.  Old Bridges may help too.  It sounds more like a Matrix sequel than Tron.

The source promises fans will “go gaa gaa.”  I hope the tipster is this guy.
