Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, and Owen Wilson are all in talks to return for the third movie in the Meet the Parents/Meet the Fockers series, titled Little Fockers.
Since Teri Polo was the one to let slip the news of a second sequel in November, we’re just going to assume she’s on board too.
The third installment was discussed about two years ago, following the huge success of Meet the Fockers in 2004 ($279 million domestically), but has been delayed due to scheduling conflicts. I see De Niro still has nothing better to do though.
The new movie will revolve around the offspring of Greg (Stiller) and his wife, Pam (Polo). Owen Wilson is expected to play a larger role in this than the other two, according to Reuters.
The writer of the first two, John Hamburg, is also returning for a payday, but the director (Jay Roach) has opted out of shooting the baby adventure and will assume the role of producer. A few comedy directors are still being considered to take over.
I still enjoy the original, but the second one left a bad taste in my mouth. I really hope they don’t bring back Barbara Streisand and Dustin Hoffman. Since the second one wasn’t very funny, I don’t have much faith in this new film being any good. You could say I’m outside the circle of trust.
