First, Marshall was asked about a rumored Jurassic Park 4 and this is what he told ComingSoon:
No… I don’t know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that’s it. Maybe that’s a sign that we don’t mess with it.
Crichton passes away and somehow that’s the last straw? This franchise was dead after Jurassic Park 3, why was a fourth even being considered? As much as I would love to see automatic weapons attached to a T-Rex, I’m glad this is probably going away… for now.
Apparently some author’s lives are more important than others, because they don’t seem to have a problem with making a fourth Bourne movie after Robert Ludlum’s death.
Since Ludlum only wrote three novels, the problem has been what they will adapt into a potential fourth film. Marshall said they’re looking at a book called The Parsifal Mosaic, which has absolutely nothing to do with Bourne, but it’s about a spy falling for another spy. (Original) At least Ludlum wrote it, rather than going with The Bourne Betrayal written by some random author friend of his.
Either way, Marshall confirmed that Matt Damon hasn’t officially signed for the project because he’s waiting for the script. In related news, I don’t fully support Bourne 4 until Matt Damon signs.
