According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (Bella and Edward) are going to see a significant pay increase to return for a sequel.
Sources say stars Robert Pattinson, 22, and Kristin Stewart, 18, will get huge salary boosts from the $2 million each earned for Twilight — reportedly $10 million more, per film, plus a nice percentage of the future movies’ box-office take.
(I wanted to quickly point out that Bill Zwecker used the word “reportedly” when he was the one reporting it.)
The sequel was officially greenlit this past Saturday morning after record-breaking box office numbers and impressive midnight screening numbers. No other stars have been officially announced as returning, but Summit will likely make a move to secure the rest of the cast, especially Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob and a key role in the second film/novel. Director Catherine Hardwicke has not signed for the second movie, New Moon, because she wants to make sure it’s “done right.”
Zwecker also says a third movie based on Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse is “virtually a done deal.” This fits with the rumors of Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg writing the second and third scripts and the movies possibly being shot back-to-back.
