Writer Hired for Bourne 4

Published by Jeff Leins on: October 18th, 2008

Universal is moving ahead with the fourth Bourne movie they announced back in February by hiring George Nolfi to write a script.

If you don’t know who that is, I don’t blame you.  I had Nolfi-cking clue who he was either.  After looking it up, he co-wrote the Bourne Ultimatum (the third movie) with Tony Gilroy.  Unfortunately Gilroy won’t be returning to the series.  Nolfi also wrote the mediocre Ocean’s 12 and The Sentinel, which I’m pretty sure I blocked out of my memory somehow.  I’m working in therapy to get those two hours back.

The studio was smart enough to first sign Matt Damon to reprise his Jason Bourne role and director Paul Greengrass.  I hope there’s a “tone down the shaky cam” clause in his contract though.

The story will be based on an original spy adventure, since there are technically only three Robert Ludlum books to base this series on and even then they barely followed the novels.  There are technically two more books written by a different author about him having a son.  It’s also rumored that Jason Bourne will receive a court order to babysit a group of misfit kids before hijinx ensue.  There may or may not be CGI talking animals.

I’ll let you know when I find out more insider details on Bourne 4.
