Rachel McAdams has signed for Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros’ take on Sherlock Holmes.
McAdams will play Irene Adler, Sherlock Holmes’s love interest in the story. Kelly Reilly will play Mary, Watson’s love interest.
The future Mrs. Leins joins Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock) and Jude Law (Watson) in the cast, according to Access Hollywood. Wait, who? Access Hollywood? I’m surprised they’re pulling exclusives. Isn’t Paris Hilton doing something they should write about?
After breaking out in 2005, McAdams actually took a year off. Her small indie film The Lucky Ones started last weekend in limited theaters. She also brightened the cast of State of Play, the movie that lost Brad Pitt and Edward Norton and gained Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck.
McAdams just makes me smile. I can’t look at her and still be angry. In fact, I carry a picture of her around in my wallet and when I’m feeling blue, I just take a look. Turn that frown upside down, I always say. I even show it to people and claim she’s my girlfriend… What? It could happen.
Ritchie’s film will start shooting in October. The other Sherlock Holmes movie is a comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrel.
