Dark Knight IMAXing It Up Again In January

Published by Jeff Leins on September 11, 2008

IMAX and Warner Bros have announced plans to re-release The Dark Knight into IMAX theaters in January.  The plan is to kill two birds with one very awesome stone.  It gets another shot at the big record ($600.7 million domestic held by Titanic… for now) and it reminds Oscar voters how great the movie is (and Ledger was) when the voting starts.  (I predicted this would happen a few days ago.)

According to my friends over at Reuters, it’s uncertain whether they will re-release the film in regular theaters at the same time.

The DVD will be out in time for Christmas according to insiders, but those wanting to get one last look will have their chance.

I saw the movie in both formats.  The IMAX experience was amazing.  Christopher Nolan shot four major action sequences and some of the cityscape scenes using the 70mm cameras.  If you didn’t have a chance to check it out the first time around, I highly recommend you find a way to see it on the bigger screen.
