Just because I wrote it tries too hard to be smart doesn't mean I didn't understand it.

Maybe you should read some more and expand your vocabulary instead of giving a film a shitty review because you dont know what they are saying.I really enjoyed this film and disagree with almost everything you said, but hey, I am an English major so I'm probably just a pretentious asshole like all these "one dimensional" characters, right? Maybe they would have more depth if you knew what they where saying.

And the only real con was the fact that the son in this movie was a waste of time and script pages, as he offered nothing to the characters or story.

Just one last thing: is it really trying to be to smart? I call that authnticity, as it's a film about an English professor and his kid that got a perfect score on the sat. If they talked like an everyday sitcom and argued over television then the film would be a waste of time like most every other film out there.
