Tron Sequel Revealed With Lame Title

Published by Jeff Leins on July 25, 2008

At the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, Disney played a surprise promo clip for Tr2n, the sequel to 1982’s Tron.

The title shown was really Tr2n, I didn’t just throw a number in there to try to be funny. How do you even pronounce that? Trotwune? Tertune? What’s wrong with Tron 2.0? Or Tron 2: It’s Tworrific! Tron: You Weren’t Born Last Time This Was in Theaters.

Jeff Bridges, the star of the original, was featured in the clip and will return to star in the next movie.

The video showed a blue and a yellow player engaged in a futuristic race with updated effects (obviously) from the first. A crash ensues and the beaten man yells, “It’s just a game” to the evil mastermind, Jeff Bridges. But the winner of the race removes his helmet to reveal a younger… Jeff Bridges.

Finally, a movie that stars Jeff Bridges alongside Jeff Bridges fighting for the control of Jeff and bridges. Since nothing has officially been shot for the sequel (this was just a promotional video), maybe I could play Jeff.

AICN says Joe Kosinski directed the feature and is attached to helm the sequel. He’s behind the Logan’s Run remake and was the director of those CG commercials for “Gears of War” and “Halo 3.”

Updated: A clip is included after the jump. Beware, it might the grainiest, worst quality bootleg trailer in history.

I’m sure this will be gone soon. If it doesn’t work, drop a comment below and I’ll fix it.
