Devastator in Transformers 2?

Published by Jeff Leins on: April 4th, 2008

I think it’s pretty well documented that I wasn’t a fan of Transformers, so let’s move past that and talk about this crazy rumor.

I should also point out that Michael Bay made a public statement saying he planned on leaking false information about Transformers 2 for the sake of confusing fans of the original. Well, not the last part…

IESB has learned the sequel might feature a group of Decepticons (bad robots) called Constructicons. In the cartoons, their names were Scrapper, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Mixmaster, Hook and Long Haul. They combined bodies and minds to create a gigantic robot called Devastator.

Scrapper (right leg) is a front-loaded shovel truck. Bonecrusher (left arm) is a bulldozer, but was already featured in the first film, so he may get renamed. Scavenger (right arm) is one of those excavators, or “big construction shovel thingy.” Mixmaster (left leg) is a concrete mixer. Hook (head/shoulders, not the shampoo) is a crane. Long Haul (torso) is a dump truck.

So basically “big f*cking robots” are going to get even bigger.  IESB also has a breakdown of the characters being cast in the sequel, including a guy named Chuck, Sam’s quirky roommate at Princeton.

I know a little something about this because my friends and I combine forces to battle things all the time. It’s a little less Captain Planet and more Devastator-esque, with a bit of Voltron thrown in (mostly because of the giant sword). Ironically, I form the left leg.
