It appears that 2008 will be the year that screen legends unite. There’s Righteous Kill coming out with De Niro and Pacino. (I’d show you the trailer but noooooo, Nu Films doesn’t want free advertising)
And then there’s The Forbidden Kingdom, starring Jet Li and Jackie Chan. This will be the first fight scene between the two martial arts legends. A fighting movie with Jackie Chan? Unheard of! It’s also another martial arts movie for Li who said he wasn’t making any more of those after Fearless.
Chan is a getting a little old for this. In his last movie you could tell he was a little sluggish and his stunts weren’t as spectacular as we all remembered.
Plus he might be losing his mind. After Rush Hour 3, he publicly stated that he was “disappointed” in the movie and said, “I spent four months making this film and I still don’t fully understand the humor.”
Here’s what he had to say about THIS movie:
The movie I just shot with Jet Li, ‘The Forbidden Kingdom,’ actually isn’t that great,” Chan was quoted as saying by the Web site of China’s official Xinhua News Agency.
“‘The Forbidden Kingdom’ is a movie made for Americans,” the report quoted Chan as saying. “Chinese viewers may not like it. If I say it’s a good movie now, then many people will be filled with overly high expectations and be disappointed when they see the movie.”
Any way, the promo trailer is after the click:
