Tim Burton Quits Ripley’s

Published by Jeff Leins on: June 19th, 2007

Moviehole has a story about Tim Burton quitting the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! movie. Paramount is now looking for a new director for the movie that stars Jim Carrey. The movie was still in pre-production and had originally starred Johnny Depp, who backed out due to schedule conflicts. It was due for winter 2008, but most likely will be pushed back now to find a new captain.

No actual reason has been given yet as to why he quit the project. Depp has been involved with Burton’s last three movies, so maybe he just misses Johnny. That’s so sweet. And creepy. Just like Tim… Well, mostly just creepy.

The movie is about Robert Ripley’s journeys and discoveries, which he later uses in his television show creation.

TheMovieBlog also reported on the news, and the brilliant comedian Doug Nagy had a hilarious take on the situation.
